The kingfisher is caught mid-flight, wings open to show the turquoise and rust tones of its plumage. The feathers come to life through the wide palette and the extra stitches: half cross stitch and long stitch lighten the wings, while french knots pick out the smallest details.
This is a project for stitchers who are comfortable with counted work and happy to handle a large piece with many colour changes; having the threads already sorted on the organiser makes a real difference. You will also need a hoop or frame and small scissors, and no frame is included. Once finished, the piece is worth mounting on board and setting in a simple frame.
