A close-up portrait of a red deer stag, his brown coat worked in many shades against a background of green leaves. It is a generously sized piece that rewards patience and a little experience in following a chart with closely related colours. The 27 count evenweave cotton is usually stitched over two threads, giving crisp stitches even in the subtle shading of the muzzle and antlers.
Everything needed for the stitching is in the kit, DMC threads included; the frame shown in the photo is not included. A large hoop or a frame and good lighting make the work much easier. Once finished, the piece looks its best mounted with a mat and framed, in a living room, a study or a country house.
