Description

One of Marjolein Bastin's nature studies: blue tits perched among dry stems, leaves and berries, their yellow and blue plumage standing out against the white ground. The cross stitch is worked over two fabric threads, while back stitch and French knots pick out beaks, feet and the fine detail of the stalks.

The number of shades and the subtle greens of the foliage call for some experience in following a chart, so work in good light and mark off the areas as you complete them. The frame shown in the photo is not included; once finished, the piece can be framed with a pale mount, as in the picture, or mounted on a board.
