The well

A pale blue bicycle propped against an old stone well, with a basket of orange flowers on the rack and a country house and garden behind. The whole picture is worked in half cross stitch by following the design already printed on the canvas, so there is no counting: the colour under the needle shows where to stitch.

Pénélope canvas is double-thread, which also allows petit point on the finer details. Threads are not included: choose tapestry wool or cotton to match the printed colours, and add a blunt-tipped tapestry needle and, if you like working that way, a frame. Given its generous size, the finished piece makes a picture to frame or a cushion panel.
