Tulip

An open tulip with red and orange petals set against a black ground with green leafy scrolls: a classic design intended to become a cushion. The Penelope canvas comes already printed in colour, so there is no counting involved; you simply follow the design, working half cross stitch with all the diagonals slanting the same way.

The purchase is for the printed canvas only: threads, backing fabric and finishing materials must be bought separately. Needlepoint of this kind is usually worked in tapestry wool or other canvas yarns chosen to match the printed colours, and a frame helps keep the canvas taut. The finished piece can be made up as a cushion, as shown, or framed as a picture.
