Esther Blue belongs to Village Life, the Tilda collection that looks back to old wallpapers and pretty vintage dresses. The print is a small, closely packed ditsy floral, with a deep navy ground that makes the pink and white petals stand out – a small scale design that still reads well once it is cut into squares and triangles.
It works well as a background in a scrappy quilt, in small blocks, as a lining for bags and pouches, or for Tilda doll clothes. It sits happily with the winter side of the collection, burgundy and blues, and with light solids. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew. For long strips or borders, choose one of the larger cuts.
