The design comes from an original artwork by Lucy Pittaway, the English artist known for her naive, colourful style: two sheep looking at each other, a lamb in the long grass and a meadow of wild flowers filling almost the whole square. The cross stitch is worked by counting the squares of the Aida, while back stitch outlines and French knots add definition to faces, legs and flower heads.
The threads come ready sorted by colour, so you can start straight away: all you need to add are small scissors and, if you like, a hoop or frame. The square format suits framing or a cushion front. The frame shown is not included.
