A wren caught mid-step, with a little blue egg and its call written by hand: a Madeleine Floyd design from the series devoted to garden birds. It is worked in counted cross stitch on Aida, with a little backstitch for the legs and lettering and French knots for the smallest details.
Everything you need is in the box and the piece is stitched straight into the wooden hoop, which is included and doubles as the frame: once finished, pull the fabric taut, tidy the back and it is ready to hang. You will only need a pair of embroidery scissors and good light. A small project, easy to pick up in the evening.
