A large portrait, where the shading of the skin and beard is built up from closely related stranded cotton tones and the sheen of the turban and jacket grows stitch by stitch. Alongside cross stitch the design uses half cross stitch for the finer details, long stitch and French knots, all explained in the instructions.
Evenweave is worked over two threads, giving a finer result than Aida while staying easy to follow thanks to its regular weave. You will also want a hoop or frame to keep such a large piece taut while you work; the frame shown is not included. Once finished, the embroidery is best mounted and framed as a picture.
