Five fat quarters from the Village Life collection in the Rust/Ochre colourway: vintage-feeling prints, from floral stripes that recall old wallpaper to little bunches of roses, in warm autumn shades. The fat quarter is the handiest cut in patchwork because, for the same amount of fabric, it yields larger squares and pieces than a strip.
Five coordinated prints suit small and medium projects: cushions, bags, pouches, pot holders, decorations and Tilda dolls, or quilt blocks to be completed with solids. For a quilt you will still need backing fabric, wadding and fabric for the binding. Pre-wash the pieces before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
