Wallflower Thristle comes from the Wallflower collection, Tone Finnanger's romantic nod to the decorative styles of the 1960s and 70s. This print follows the caramel and blue side of the palette, with large and small flowers covering the whole ground and a woman's face appearing among the petals.
It is a busy, large-scale design that works best in whole pieces: big quilt blocks, cushion backs, bags, aprons or a little girl's dress. Set against plain fabrics or smaller prints from the same collection, it settles down and gives the composition room to breathe. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
