Mae Ochre belongs to Village Life, the Tilda collection inspired by old wallpapers and pretty vintage dresses. It is one of the blenders in the range: the print is small and densely packed, so even cut into little pieces it still reads as a pattern – handy for quilt blocks, borders and small-piece patchwork.
The ochre ground sits easily alongside the rusts, greens and teals of the collection's autumn palette, and works on its own for drawstring bags, pillowcases, pouches, linings and doll clothes. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; if you need long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
