A bumblebee shown as in a natural history plate: black and yellow banded body, translucent wings worked in long stitches and the scientific name in script underneath. The mottled, warm-toned fabric is left largely unstitched as a background, so the work centres on the insect and grows faster than the size suggests.
Everything needed for stitching is in the pack: you only need scissors and, if you like working with the fabric taut, a hoop or frame. A frame for display is not included: the finished piece can be framed on its own or alongside other subjects from the same animal collection.
