A butterfly with open wings, worked in warm browns and oranges with the bright blue of the eyespots, and its scientific name stitched in script below. The design is worked by counting the stitches on evenweave fabric following the large-square chart; alongside the cross stitch there are a few long stitches for the antennae and french knots.
The frame is not included, and neither are a hoop or scissors: keeping the fabric taut in a hoop or frame helps the stitches stay even. The small square format works well framed on its own or as part of a set with other subjects from the same nature collection.
