A yellow-crested cockatoo emerges from a mass of pink, red and coral dahlias, with the dark green background stitched solid: the result is a richly shaded picture that calls for patience and careful chart reading. The design is worked in cross stitch over two threads of the evenweave, with a few long stitches for the detail in feathers and petals.
Everything needed for stitching is in the kit, threads included; the frame is not supplied. A hoop or frame helps keep the fabric taut, and good light is worth having, since many of the shades are close to one another. Once finished, the piece works best framed as a picture.
