4 Seasons

Four small pictures that tell the story of the year: spring crocuses with a butterfly, blue summer hydrangeas, an autumn squirrel among the leaves and a winter wren with berries and a Christmas rose, each with the name of the season stitched beside it. The set holds the materials for all four designs, which can be worked one at a time.

The evenweave fabric is usually stitched over two threads, giving neat, well-defined crosses, while the back stitch outlines sharpen the flowers and animals. You will also want a hoop or frame and a small pair of scissors. Frames are not included: the four pieces can be framed together as a set, or made up as little cushions or hangings to display in turn through the year.
