Solid Grape

Solid Grape is one of the Tilda plain fabrics, a full, warm plum purple made to go alongside the printed fabrics of the collections. Solids give a quilt room to breathe: they work as backgrounds, borders and backings, and they suit the areas where a print would look too busy.

The cotton is soft but closely woven, so it cuts and sews well even in small pieces – cushions, bags, pouches, dolls and decorations. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew, and take care with the first washes if you combine it with very pale fabrics. For long strips or sashing, choose one of the larger cuts.
