A close-up portrait of a black swan worked entirely in greys, whites and blacks: the feathers of the neck and breast are built up from very close tonal steps, so good light helps and the yarn organizer is worth using to keep the shades apart. Back stitch defines the beak and the outlines of the plumage.
The cotton and modal evenweave is stitched over two threads for each cross and has a soft drape that suits such a shaded subject. Apart from the kit you only need a hoop or frame and small scissors; the frame shown is not included. With almost the whole surface covered in stitching, this is a project for someone with a little experience.
