One of Marjolein Bastin's little scenes: a mouse in a yellow dress half hidden behind an armful of meadow flowers, followed by a younger one holding a ladybird by the hand. The design is worked by counting stitches on evenweave, usually with two strands of stranded cotton for the cross stitch and one for the French knots and long stitches that finish whiskers, stems and details.
Everything needed for the stitching is in the kit; a hoop or frame, small scissors and the picture frame are not included. Evenweave is finer than Aida and lets the flower shades blend softly, so good light helps. The finished piece makes a small framed picture for a bedroom or a kitchen wall.
