Cottonfield Maroon

Cottonfield Maroon comes from Sanctuary, Tilda's muted autumn/winter collection built around the idea of a safe, cosy retreat. The print is small and densely packed: cotton sprigs with cream-coloured bolls, tiny pink daisies and ochre leaves on a maroon background with a mauve cast.

Because the scale is small, it works well in little patchwork blocks, borders and triangles, where it reads almost as a warm textured solid; it also suits drawstring bags, pillowcases, pouches and clothes for Tilda dolls. Pair it with the other cottons in the collection or with earthy solids. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so that the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
