A softly shaded portrait: a young woman's gaze appears among large white and apricot peonies, with a teardrop jewel on her forehead. The gradations on skin and petals come entirely from the colour changes, while back stitch picks out the finer outlines, and the pearls add a touch of light to the jewel.
The 27 count evenweave is usually stitched over two threads, with one or two strands of cotton depending on the coverage you prefer. A hoop or frame and good light make a design of this size much easier to work. A frame is not included: with its almost square format, the finished piece is well suited to framing.
