Dorothy Blue is one of the blenders in Something Blue, the Tilda collection born from Tone Finnanger's love of blue and white pottery. The small, closely set dots make a fine print that reads almost as a lively solid from a distance: this is the fabric that gives the larger prints room to breathe, in borders, sashing, the back of a cushion or the lining of a bag.
The design is non-directional, so it can be cut any way you like – handy for squares, triangles and strips. It sits happily with the other fabrics in the collection and with cream solids. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for borders and long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
