Lila Mustard is one of the blenders in the Songbird collection, which grew out of a trip to Venice and a fondness for Art Nouveau lines: flowers, buds and scrolls hand-drawn in a fine white outline on a warm mustard yellow ground. The pattern is small and evenly spaced, so it works as a linking fabric between larger prints as well as on its own.
It cuts easily into squares, strips and triangles for quilt blocks, and suits cushions, bags, pouches and Tilda dolls, where the small-scale design still reads clearly. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew. For borders or backings, choose one of the longer cuts.
