Solid Aubergine

Solid Aubergine is one of the Tilda Basics plains, the kind of fabric that gives printed designs room to breathe: a soft, slightly dusty aubergine purple that sits happily next to the small florals and tiny motifs of the Tilda collections. Keep it for block backgrounds, sashing, cushion backs, linings and quilt bindings.

As a medium-weight quilting cotton it cuts and sews easily, by machine or by hand, and takes appliqué and quilting well. Pre-wash it before cutting so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for borders and long strips choose one of the larger cuts, which run the full width of the bolt.
