Solid Brown

Solid Brown is a warm brown plain from the Tilda Basics range, made to sit alongside the printed collections: in a quilt it gives the eye somewhere to rest between patterned blocks, and it works well for borders, cushion backs and binding. It is also an easy cotton for creative sewing, from fabric baskets to bags.

In Tilda dolls and animals this shade is often used for paws, ears, antlers and hair, or for the bodies of little bears. Because there is no print, you can cut without worrying about the direction of the motif, which means less waste. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
