Eucalyptus Eggplant belongs to Hibernation, the Tilda autumn and winter collection built around sleeping animals and nature motifs, with lighter elements on dark grounds in the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement. The print is small and densely packed: slender sprigs with round pale blue leaves scattered over a deep aubergine purple.
This is the kind of fabric quilters call a blender: it fills backgrounds, calms down larger prints and works beautifully cut into small pieces, where the motif reads almost as a texture. It also suits cushion backs, drawstring bags, pouches and linings. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so that the slight shrinkage happens before you sew.
