Stella Yellow belongs to Songbird, the collection Tone Finnanger drew after a trip to Venice, with a light nod to Art Nouveau decoration. Interlacing leaves and tiny daisies cover the whole surface in warm yellow over a coral pink ground: a busy, all-over print that reads almost as a single colour from a distance, which is why the collection lists it among the blenders.
It is a useful fabric for quilt backgrounds and borders, for small blocks, and for linings, pouches, cushions and Tilda sewing patterns. It sits easily next to the floral prints of the same series and with dusty pastel shades. Pre-wash before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew; for long strips, choose one of the larger cuts.
