Scallop Shell Grey

Scallop Shell Grey belongs to Cotton Beach, the Tilda collection inspired by the coast, shells, coral reefs and sea anemones. The print is laid out symmetrically, almost like a damask: a fan-shaped shell at the centre, surrounded by a tracery of leaves and scrolls in warm greys, cream and ochre.

Because the motif is large and mirrored, it shows best in bigger pieces: the centre blocks of a quilt, a cushion front, bags, curtains or the backing of a project. Pre-wash the fabric before cutting, so the slight shrinkage happens before you sew. It sits easily next to the other prints in the collection, from the small florals to the tiniest patterns.
